Job Description
Oldham Council is seeking an experienced, qualified Advanced Practitioner to join the Children in Our Care Service — a well-structured service comprising four teams, each made up of a Team Manager, one Advanced Practitioner, and up to six Social Workers.
This is a full-time (5 days per week), hybrid role based at George Street, Oldham (OL1 1HD), running initially for three months from 28 September 2026 (earliest start 7 September 2026), paying £40 per hour.
You will hold a manageable caseload of up to 15 children and young people in Local Authority care, reviewing progress and developing care plans to best meet individual needs. Alongside your caseload responsibilities, you will provide advanced practitioner support to the Team Manager and Social Workers, including students and ASYEs. This includes organising and facilitating group reflective supervision, holding learning circles, chairing care planning meetings for children allocated to other workers on the team, and offering one-to-one advice and support.
The hybrid working model is normally three days office-based and two days working from home, subject to the needs of the service.
Candidates must be qualified Social Workers registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience at Advanced Practitioner level within a children’s looked-after or children in care setting. Please note: DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions must be completed and uploaded to the candidate record prior to submission — applications without this will not be progressed.
