Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join the Families First Child in Need Service in Trafford, working on a locality basis across the borough at a rate of £37 per hour.
This specialist service has been developed to strengthen assessment and planning for children in need and their families, raising the profile of child in need work and ensuring a consistent, high-quality approach across Trafford. You will work directly with children and families requiring social work assessment, carrying a manageable caseload and contributing to duty on a rota basis.
Key responsibilities include undertaking Section 47 enquiries, completing child and family assessments, holding a caseload of children supported through child in need planning, and building meaningful relational partnerships with families. You will support the safe step-down of plans in line with families’ timescales and contribute to a whole-borough approach to children in need.
As an Advanced Practitioner, you will also coach, support, and supervise designated staff and students, playing an active role in their professional development and practice standards.
Candidates must have a recognised Social Work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have a minimum of five years’ post-qualifying experience. Employment history will be checked for gaps, and all relevant qualifications will be verified. Please note that DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions must be completed prior to submission via XMS.
This is a temporary contract running from 25 May to 31 July 2026. If you are a skilled and motivated Advanced Practitioner looking to make a real difference to children and families in Trafford, apply today.
