Job Description

An experienced Adults Social Worker is sought to join Manchester City Council’s North locality team, based at Crescent Bank, Humphrey Street, Manchester (M8 9JS). This is an office-based role offering a competitive rate of £30 per hour, with an initial contract running from 1st June to 31st July 2026.

This position sits within an adult services setting with a strong preference for candidates who hold Learning Disability social work experience. You will be working directly with adults with learning disabilities, carrying out assessments, reviews, and care planning in line with statutory requirements and the Care Act 2014. The team operates from a North Manchester base, supporting a complex and varied caseload across the city.

Successful candidates will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with a minimum of three years’ post-qualifying experience. Full employment history will be required, with any gaps satisfactorily explained. References covering the past three years are mandatory, and all relevant qualifications must be evidenced in line with the job description and person specification.
