Job Description
Herefordshire Council is seeking three locum Adults Social Workers to support its City Locality Team, covering Hereford City and the wider county. This is an interim role available from 1 September 2026, initially for three months with a strong likelihood of extension, at a rate of £23.33–£31.97 per hour.
The team carries a broad adult caseload and you will need a minimum of five years’ experience in adult social care, with exposure across at least half of the following areas: Older People and Young Adults; Physical Health, ABI, Mental Health, Learning Disability, and Autism; complex casework; Safeguarding; Court of Protection; Community DoLS; multi-disciplinary team working; and care planning including Assessment, Review, Support Plans, Personal Budgets, and Budget Requests.
A recognised social work qualification (BA, MA, CQSW, or DipSW) and current Social Work England registration are essential, along with a cleared enhanced DBS. A solid working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005 is required.
This is a hybrid role: full-time 37 hours per week, with a minimum of two days in the Plough Lane office (Wednesday and Thursday are team office days) and availability for duty visits on duty days. Candidates must be commutable to Hereford within 1.5 hours.
