Job Description

Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Adults Social Worker to join their Adult Social Care team based in Birkenhead (CH41 2YA). This is a hybrid role offering £27.98–£36.08 per hour via Prism, starting 7 September 2026.

You will support the delivery of health and social care functions for adults and carers across Wirral, embedding the Care Act 2014, strengths-based practice, personalisation and social inclusion within the Personalisation and Inclusion Pathways. Working within a Multi-Disciplinary Team, you will carry out complex needs-led assessments, care and support planning, risk assessments and reviews for adults with physical health, mental health and older-people needs.

Key responsibilities include: supporting the duty function within the Review Team, including daily case triage; undertaking Best Interest Assessments (DoLS); supporting MASH, MARAC and MAPPA safeguarding processes; chairing multi-disciplinary and strategy meetings; submitting funding applications; and providing supervision and practice support to NQSWs and Care Navigators.

Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification (Degree, DipSW or equivalent), be registered with Social Work England, and demonstrate proven experience of statutory adults’ social care including complex assessments, safeguarding and court work. A Best Interest Assessor or Practice Educator qualification is desirable. Ability to travel across the Borough and a flexible working approach are required.
