Job Description
Somerset Council is seeking a qualified Adults Social Worker to join their Adult Services team based in Bridgwater, Somerset (TA6 3AR). This is a locum role paying £27.78–£38.00 per hour, available from 22 June 2026 via the Prism portal.
You will hold a caseload of varying complexity, undertaking assessments of risk and care needs for adult service users and carers in line with relevant legislation. Key responsibilities include making ongoing assessments of allocated cases, developing and reviewing care plans, managing statutory responsibilities including carer assessments, working with people presenting in crisis, and contributing to multi-agency and multi-disciplinary team working with health, housing, and voluntary sector colleagues.
A desirable specialism is experience working with people with Learning Disabilities. The role also involves supervising unqualified or vocationally qualified staff, participating in duty rotas, and contributing to Court of Protection applications where service users lack capacity to manage their finances.
Essential requirements: a recognised Social Work qualification (BA or MA in Social Work or equivalent), current registration with Social Work England, strong IT skills, and access to a vehicle. Candidates must be able to speak fluent English in line with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016. A DBS check is required.
