Job Description

Denbighshire County Council is recruiting a Senior Social Worker to join its Adult Social Care and Housing service, based at The Royal Alexandra Hospital in Rhyl. This is a locum role paying £237.60–£320.73 per day, commencing 24 August 2026.

You will deliver a high-quality social work service to adults and their families, supporting independence and resilience whilst ensuring individuals remain at the centre of decision-making about their own lives. The role carries a caseload of varied complexity and includes safeguarding investigations, risk assessments, care planning, and statutory reviews in accordance with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

Key responsibilities include working in partnership with health, third-sector, and emergency services to deliver integrated care; chairing Best Interests Meetings, Integrated Care and Support Plan reviews, and multidisciplinary meetings; contributing to strategy meetings and case conferences; and providing advice and guidance to less experienced practitioners.

The successful candidate will hold a recognised social work qualification (Degree or DipSW equivalent), be registered with Social Care Wales, and have demonstrable experience of complex adult casework and multi-agency working. You must hold a full UK driving licence and have the ability to travel across Denbighshire. A DBS check is required.
