Job Description

Barnet Council is seeking an experienced Adults Mental Health Social Worker to join its Mental Health Team, based in Colindale, NW9. This is a temporary role paying £183.38–£253.15 per day via Prism, starting 1 June 2026.

You will deliver high-quality social work to adults and carers under the Care Act 2014, carrying out professional assessments focused on the Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework. Your caseload will involve safeguarding adults at risk of harm, applying Making Safeguarding Personal principles and promoting well-being throughout your practice.

Key responsibilities include undertaking and reviewing individualised, outcomes-led care and support plans; supporting people to maintain independence through quality information, advice, and signposting to preventative services; and building on service users’ resilience and strengths. You will also contribute to a culture of continuous professional development and quality practice improvement.

You must be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with 2–4 years post-qualifying experience, ideally within a mental health setting. Experience working within adult social care statutory services and a sound working knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and safeguarding frameworks is essential.
