Job Description

An exciting interim opportunity has arisen for an Adults Assistant Team Manager to join North Tyneside Council’s Mental Health Social Work and Reablement Team, based at Quadrant East, Wallsend (NE27 0BY). The role runs from 17 August to 30 November 2026 at £29.07 per hour via Comensura.

You will support the Team Manager in the operational leadership of a specialist mental health social work and reablement service, acting as the key bridge between frontline practitioners and senior leadership. Core duties include overseeing assessment, review and care planning functions; providing structured professional supervision to Social Workers and Reablement Workers; leading safeguarding enquiries and chairing related meetings; and deputising for the Team Manager as required.

You will champion strength-based, recovery-focused practice in line with the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act, and Mental Capacity Act, ensuring assessments and support plans are timely, co-produced and of high quality. Responsibilities also include quality auditing, Section 117 aftercare planning, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards guidance, multi-agency representation, and supporting budgetary efficiency.

Candidates must be qualified Social Workers registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience in adults’ mental health services and supervisory or management responsibility. Experience of reablement or recovery-focused practice is advantageous.
