Job Description
Sheffield City Council is seeking an experienced Adults Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) to join their Hospital Discharge Team, based at Howden House, Sheffield city centre. This is a locum role running from 25 May to 28 August 2026 at £35 per hour.
You will undertake social care assessments and coordinate timely care packages for hospital inpatients prior to discharge, with a focus on supporting discharges from PICU and acute wards. Duties include mental capacity assessments, Best Interest decisions, safeguarding work as required, and completion of Ministry of Justice reports. You will also attend Section 117 meetings, ward rounds, and professional meetings, and participate in a duty rota.
The successful candidate must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England, with substantive mental health experience and current AMHP qualification. Experience with Liquid Logic (LAS) is preferred, as is holding a current driving licence.
