Administrator – Waste & Recycling – #OR107463

Job Description

Powys County Council is seeking an Administrator to join the Waste & Recycling team based at Station Road, Rhayader, Powys (LD6 5AW). This is a temporary role paying £12.71–£16.44 per hour, starting 20 July 2026, sourced via Prism.

You will provide efficient administrative support to operational and support teams within the division, acting as a key point of contact for customers, handling complaints and service requests, and issuing and validating customer documentation.

Key responsibilities include maintaining electronic and manual information systems, processing incoming and outgoing mail and garden waste queries, word processing correspondence and reports, coordinating and minuting meetings, creating and archiving files, liaising with external organisations, and ordering stationery and equipment in line with procurement policies.

Essential requirements include experience of working in an office environment, competent use of Office IT packages (Word, Excel, Outlook), strong organisational and communication skills, ability to prioritise and meet deadlines, attention to detail, and a GCSE-level standard of education including English and/or Maths. An ECDL or equivalent IT qualification and NVQ Level 2 in Administration are desirable. Some ability to speak Welsh is also desirable though not essential.
