We are currently recruiting for 4 Social Workers with the option of one being parttime (18.5 hours a week). Please specify when sending anyone through whether they are wanting to be considered for fulltime or parttime hours.

The vacancies are within the Macclesfield Child in Need/Child Protection Team which is based within Macclesfield Town Hall. There is public parking within 200 yards of the office.

The role is within a frontline facing statutory service so Social Workers need to be able to respond to any risk during working hours and fulfil their statutory duties, however, the worker is able to manage their own diary with an expectation of being in the office a minimum of 3 days a week.

The service is made up of 4 Social Worker teams which each have a Team Manager, 6 x Social Workers and a Family Support Worker. The service covers from referral through to Care Proceedings when the case will transfer over to the Care Planning Team if there is a plan of permanence outside of the family home. There is an element of court work that is still held within the service. As the team cover duty also, a team covers duty once every 4 days on a rolling pattern and the expectation are that staff are in the office on their duty days.

The following DBS is required for this role:

Enhanced – including barred:

a. Children’s barred list

b. Adults barred list

c. Both children’s and adults

JOB PURPOSE

To contribute to the operational delivery of an effective Children’s Social Care Service as part of a team responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people continuously improving outcomes.

To be responsible for social work provision including managing own caseload whilst managing the reputation of the Department and Council and complying with national and service procedures and guidance.

Please be aware this is a Long Term Temporary post to start ASAP.

You must have:

  • A professional qualification in social work and experience of working with Children's
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Post qualified experience.
  • Enhanced DBS/Update service.
  • References required for the last 5 years of employment.
