Job Description

An excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Sutton Locality Team, working within Adult Social Care for the London Borough of Sutton. This role carries a complex caseload of adult care and support cases, including Section 42 safeguarding enquiries, complex transitions from children’s services, and placement breakdown cases, delivering strength-based Care Act 2014 assessments, reviews and support planning. You will apply the Mental Capacity Act 2005 to complex capacity assessments, lead Best Interests decision-making, and manage DoLS processes where required. Working closely with the ICB, Continuing Healthcare, CMHT, housing and care providers, you will participate in multi-agency panels and safeguarding strategy meetings, manage risk through dynamic safety planning, and take part in duty rota triage and crisis response. The post also involves mentoring less experienced staff and social work students, and contributing to service improvement and audit activity. You will operate largely autonomously, escalating high-risk issues to the Team Manager as needed. Candidates must be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with significant post-qualifying experience in adult social care and safeguarding.
