Job Description

Caerphilly County Borough Council is seeking a qualified Childrens Social Worker to join its Childrens Services division, based primarily at offices across the borough including Woodfieldside, Ty Gilfach, Ty Pontygwindy, and Rhymney, with the working address at Tredomen House, Hengoed.

This is a broad-based children and families role encompassing high-quality assessment and care management for children and young people with assessed needs. You will develop outcome-focused intervention plans in consultation with children, young people, and their families, safeguarding welfare and addressing risk within statutory timescales. You will maintain accurate case records, represent the service at court and panel meetings, and work effectively across multi-agency partnerships including education, health, and police.

A Fostering Team specialism is also referenced within this post — Fostering Team Social Workers will additionally recruit, train, assess, and support foster carers in line with the Fostering Recruitment and Retention Strategy and Fostering Service Regulations, including statutory supervision visits and foster carer reviews.

Candidates must hold a Diploma or Degree in Social Work and be registered with Social Care Wales (or another UK social work regulatory body). Experience in child protection, care proceedings, and assessment work is desirable. A full UK driving licence and business-use motor insurance are required. The role may require flexible working including evenings and weekends.
