*Childrens Social Worker – Leaving Care Team – #OR111835

August 12, 2026
£212 - £286 / day

Job Description

Wrexham County Borough Council is seeking a committed, creative and resilient Childrens Social Worker to join its Leaving Care Team within Children Services, based at 31 Chester Street, Wrexham (LL13 8BG). This is a temporary contract commencing 7 September 2026, paying £212.41–£285.72 per day.

The Leaving Care Team supports care-experienced children and young people aged 15–25, focusing on transition planning through to independence. You will champion trauma-informed, relationships-based practice, support transition between the ages of 15 and 18, and help young people develop the confidence and life skills needed for adulthood. Corporate parenting and mentoring junior colleagues are central to the role.

The service was positively acknowledged in the 2024 CIW inspection for the quality of relationships built between social workers and young people. Protected caseloads, flexible and hybrid working (broadly equal home/office split), and strong management supervision are all in place.

Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Care Wales. An enhanced DBS is required. Experience of leaving care or corporate parenting practice is highly advantageous.
