Job Description
South Tyneside Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Advanced Practitioner to join their Children with Disabilities Team, based at the Town Hall, South Shields (NE33 2RL). This is a statutory children and families role starting 10 August 2026.
You will hold a complex caseload spanning family support, Looked After Children, and child protection, with a specialist focus on children with disabilities and transitions to adulthood. Key responsibilities include undertaking MCA assessments and DoLS applications, court of protection work, child protection and LAC reviews, and leading assessment and intervention planning in line with legislation, guidance, and local policy. You will ensure the voice of the child is central to all recording, planning, and panel processes.
The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience in a statutory children and families setting, including direct work with children with disabilities, child protection and safeguarding, court proceedings, and transitions work. You must be registered with Social Work England and committed to continuous professional development.
