Job Description

Sefton MBC is seeking a Centre Administrator to join the Communities directorate, based at The Atkinson, Lord Street, Southport, PR8 1DB. This is a temporary role working 36 hours per week, paying £13.88–£18.05 per hour, available from 25 August 2026, sourced via Prism.

The role sits within the Operations and Partnerships directorate and reports to the Principal Manager of Museum and Galleries. The Atkinson is a public-facing arts and cultural venue, and the post holder will provide essential administrative and financial support across programmes, fundraising, and income generation.

Key responsibilities include day-to-day and financial administration, procurement and reporting using I Want Finance and Agresso, cash handling, petty cash float management, banking, venue hire administration, and supporting financial reporting for The Atkinson Development Trust. The post holder will also maintain records of income and expenditure, input data for utilities billing, and ensure continuity of administrative support during staff absence.

Candidates must have a good standard of general education and demonstrable experience in office administration, financial management, cash handling, and working to deadlines under pressure. Strong IT skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, and the ability to manage competing demands are essential. A computer qualification such as ECDL or CLAIT is desirable.

Please note the role requires flexibility to work some evenings and weekends in line with The Atkinson’s public programme. A TOIL arrangement is in place.
