Job Description

Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced Family Finding Social Worker to join the Permanence Hub, based in Aston, Birmingham (B6 4DU). This is a rewarding specialist role focused on securing timely, stable and nurturing family-based placements for children and young people in care, paying between £22.50 and £30.57 per hour. The role begins 1 September 2026.

Working collaboratively with social workers, IROs, fostering teams and placement services, you will undertake proactive and creative family-finding activity to support permanence planning and reduce delay for children awaiting placements. Key responsibilities include developing high-quality, strengths-based child profiles and promotional materials, participating in multi-agency matching forums, building relationships with independent fostering agencies and placement providers, and coordinating family-finding and matching events.

You will bring specialist knowledge of fostering regulations, permanence planning, attachment and trauma-informed practice, alongside strong skills in written assessments, reports and child profiling. Experience working with looked-after children, fostering services or adoption is essential. A relevant professional qualification in Social Work and registration with Social Work England is required.
