Childrens IRO – Looked After Children Reviews – #OR101938

Job Description

Liverpool City Council is seeking an experienced Independent Reviewing Officer to join their children’s services on a temporary basis, based in Liverpool (L6 3BH) with free on-site car parking.

This is a statutory IRO role — NOT a Child Protection Conference Chair position. You will independently chair Looked After Children Reviews, Secure Accommodation Reviews, Child Sexual Exploitation meetings, and Missing from Care meetings in line with statutory requirements and guidance.

Candidates must have recent IRO experience and be available to start within 4 weeks. A minimum of 3 years’ permanent post-qualification experience is required to comply with DfE regulations — please indicate on your CV whether each role was permanent or agency.

Full knowledge and understanding of Looked After Children legislation, processes, and regulatory framework is essential.

The role requires a minimum of 3 days per week on site. Rate: £40ph Ltd/umbrella. Initial 3-month placement with a start date of 10 August 2026.
