Job Description

Kirklees Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Children with Disabilities (CWD) Team, based at Civic Centre 1, Huddersfield. This is a fixed-term locum post running from 10 August to 30 September 2026, paying £27.30 per hour.

Working within relevant legislation, government guidance, and the council’s practice standards, you will carry out assessments and provide social work interventions using a child-centred approach. Key responsibilities include building meaningful relationships with children, young people, and families; working collaboratively with partner agencies and professionals within a multi-disciplinary framework; delivering high-quality assessments and person-centred plans; managing complex needs and safeguarding situations confidently; and maintaining an allocated caseload effectively.

Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. A full, valid driving licence is essential. An enhanced DBS and barred list check will be required prior to commencement.
