Job Description

Sefton MBC is recruiting a Youth Justice Case Manager to join its Youth Justice Service, based at Trinity Road, Bootle, Merseyside (L20 3NJ). The rate is £20.88–£27.35 per hour, with a start date of 3 August 2026.

Working as part of Sefton’s multi-agency Youth Justice Service, you will support children to prevent their entry into the criminal justice system and, where they are already involved, to help them learn, make positive changes, and build a more promising future. You will be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, managing risk and vulnerability, and ensuring the public are protected whilst sentences are served.

Key duties include assessing and analysing the needs of children and their families, devising intervention plans and packages of support to prevent offending, reduce the risk of serious harm, and promote safety and wellbeing. You will engage with hard-to-reach children and families and work collaboratively with partner agencies to share knowledge and deliver successful outcomes. The post may include supervision of student placements.

A recognised professional qualification is required — Social Work, Diploma in Probation Studies, Dip HE Youth & Community, or a relevant youth/criminal justice degree with associated experience. Significant post-qualification experience in youth justice, safeguarding, and risk assessment is essential, along with sound knowledge of relevant legislation and practice.
