Job Description

Bromley Council is seeking a Finance Business Support Officer to join the Central Placements team based at Churchill Court, Bromley, BR1 1AS. This is a temporary contract paying £116.86–£153.67 per day, starting 27 July 2026.

The role centres on the administrative and financial management of placement, commissioning, and contract payments across both Adults and Children’s social care services. You will ensure all payments are processed in accordance with the Council’s Financial Regulations and audit requirements, verify funding authorisations prior to invoice payment, and maintain accurate records throughout.

Key responsibilities include producing regular budgetary monitoring reports for Service Accountants to support financial projections, assisting the Finance Team Leader with end-of-year and accounts closure processes (identifying creditors and accruals), processing invoices received by the Central Placements team, and submitting requests for outstanding funding agreements. You will also provide general administrative support to the Team Leader as required.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a local government or public-sector finance/admin environment, strong attention to detail, and a working knowledge of accounts payable and receivable processes. Familiarity with financial regulations and invoice processing within a social care commissioning or placements context would be a distinct advantage.
