Childrens Senior Practitioner – Family Help Service – #OR107941

July 8, 2026
£0 - £0 / hour

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Childrens Senior Practitioner to join Birmingham Children’s Trust within the Family Help Service based in Ladywood, Birmingham (B6 4DU). This is a temporary agency role commencing 20 July 2026.

Working within the Family Help model, you will hold a diverse caseload including Child in Need (Section 17), pre-proceedings, and step-up cases requiring safeguarding oversight. You will deliver high-quality statutory assessments — including Children and Families Assessments, risk assessments, and safety plans — whilst capturing the voice of the child and working with a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach.

Key responsibilities include developing and reviewing Child in Need plans, chairing or contributing to CIN meetings, Team Around the Family meetings, and core groups, as well as working collaboratively with schools, health, police, and voluntary sector partners. You will maintain audit-ready case records and work within statutory timescales, escalating safeguarding concerns in line with Working Together to Safeguard Children.

Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work degree (or equivalent), be registered with Social Work England, and have demonstrable experience in child in need, safeguarding, and statutory assessments within a local authority children’s setting. Experience in Family Help, Early Help, or CIN teams is preferred, as is familiarity with district-based or integrated multidisciplinary models.

If you are an experienced senior practitioner ready to hit the ground running and make a meaningful difference for children and families in Ladywood, please apply today.
