Job Description
Liverpool City Council is seeking an Outreach Family Support Worker to join its Family Help division within Children and Young People’s Services, based city-wide from Liverpool North Connexions Centre, L11 1DQ. This is a temporary role paying £19.40–£25.26 per hour (via Prism), starting 20 July 2026, subject to an Enhanced DBS check.
In this outreach and home-based role you will hold whole-case responsibility for complex Early Help cases (levels 2 and 3) that step down from children’s social care, providing targeted support to children and families aged 0–25. You will complete Early Help Assessments using the EHAT tool, arrange and lead Team Around the Family (TAF) meetings, and take on the Lead Professional role to coordinate multi-agency plans that reduce risk and improve outcomes.
Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering bespoke support packages to vulnerable children and young people — including adolescents with complex emotional and mental health needs — applying the Signs of Safety model and Family Outcomes Star to evidence progress. You will support families in developing practical parenting strategies, manage transitions between early help and statutory social care at level 4, and deliver supervised contact where cases remain open to Early Help.
The successful candidate will have experience of working with children and families in a community or outreach setting, strong assessment skills, and the ability to manage a complex caseload independently. A car driver is advantageous for city-wide home visiting.
