Job Description

Liverpool City Council is recruiting a Consultant Social Worker (Advanced Practitioner) for its Family Help Service, based at Utting Avenue East, Liverpool L11 6DQ. This is a locum role paying £29.20–£39.06 per hour via Prism, starting 20 July 2026.

In this role you will supervise a team of Outreach Family Support Workers delivering high-quality, home-based Early Help support to children and families across Liverpool. You will champion a whole-family, strength-based approach, promoting child-centred and inclusive practice within your team. A key part of the role is providing reflective case supervision that drives positive outcomes for children and young people, alongside fostering effective multi-agency partnership working to maximise the impact of the Family Help Service.

Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Experience of supervising or leading practitioners in an Early Help, Family Support, or Children and Families setting is essential. A commitment to strength-based, restorative practice and multi-agency collaboration is expected.
