Job Description
Sheffield City Council is seeking a Support Worker to join the North Fieldwork Team, based at Sorby House, Spital Hill, Sheffield (S4 7LG). This is a full-time temporary role running from 31 July to 31 October 2026, paying £15.56 per hour.
Working alongside qualified Social Work staff, you will help improve and maintain the quality of service provided to children and families across the north of the city. Day-to-day duties include transporting vulnerable children across Sheffield and occasionally further afield, supporting families moving into temporary accommodation, assisting with the completion of forms such as passport applications, visiting children and families at home to assess their needs, and reporting findings back to the social worker. You will also support social workers with arranging meetings and updating social care records.
The role is full time, 37 hours per week. Core hours are 08:45–17:15 Monday to Thursday, with an earlier finish of 16:45 on Fridays. A car and full driving licence are beneficial given the significant travel requirements of the post.
If you have experience supporting children and families in a fieldwork or community setting and are available to start on 31 July 2026, please get in touch.
