Liverpool City Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner to join the Fostering Families & Friends (Kinship) Assessment Team, based at Parklands, Speke, L24, with free on-site car parking.
This is a specialist role focused on assessing the suitability of relatives and close family friends to care for children and young people through viability assessments, connected persons assessments, and Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments.
Key responsibilities include providing high-level risk analysis and completing detailed analytical kinship assessments; undertaking regular statutory visits to all carers and ensuring optimum safeguarding; making informed, child-centred decisions using critical reflection and analysis in complex cases; and producing high-quality work within set timescales whilst managing court deadlines.
Candidates must be experienced Children’s Social Workers with a background in fostering, specifically within kinship assessment, and must have previously completed SGO assessments. Strong knowledge of children’s legislation, processes, and frameworks — particularly in relation to Looked After Children and kinship — is essential.
This is an initial 3-month placement, 35 hours per week, paying £40 per hour (Ltd status). Social Work England registration is required.
