Job Description

Bury Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Social Worker to join a dynamic and fast-paced Children Looked After (CLA) team based at 3 Knowsley Place, Bury. This is an initial 3-month contract (27 July – 25 September 2026) at £35 per hour, with strong potential for extension beyond the 12-week period.

You will be working with looked after children and care leavers up to the age of 18, with most children placed locally within Bury or the wider Greater Manchester area — meaning only limited out-of-borough travel is required. Strong experience in care planning and safety planning is essential.

The team is described as lively and supportive, offering a genuinely collaborative environment where you can make a meaningful impact.

Requirements include Social Work England registration, relevant qualifications, a minimum of 5 years’ references, and any gaps in employment history will be checked. Suppliers must complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions prior to submission.
