Job Description
Barnet Council is seeking a Business Support Officer to provide comprehensive administrative and executive support to the Senior Management Team within the Adult and Communities directorate, based in Colindale, London (NW9 4EW). This is a temporary role paying £17.29–£22.47 per hour, starting 1 July 2026, sourced via Prism.
Working alongside and covering for the Business Support Lead, you will support Directors, Assistant Directors, and Heads of Service with a wide range of administrative functions. Key responsibilities include managing correspondence and post, organising and minuting meetings, handling telephone enquiries with tact and discretion, word processing, maintaining filing systems, and acting as the first point of contact for all internal and external communications to the Senior Management Team.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organisational skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and the ability to manage a reactive workload effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately. Prior experience supporting senior managers in a local authority or similar setting would be advantageous.
