Youth Justice Case Manager – Youth Justice Service – #OR103146

May 22, 2026
£21 - £27 / hour

Job Description

Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council is recruiting a Social Care Qualified Youth Justice Case Manager to join its Youth Justice Service in Bootle, Merseyside. This is a temporary role paying £20.88–£27.35 per hour, starting 1 June 2026.

Working as part of a multi-agency partnership, you will focus on preventing children from entering the criminal justice system and, where they do, supporting them to make positive changes and build a more promising future. You will manage a caseload of children and young people, conducting assessments and devising intervention plans to prevent offending, reduce risk of serious harm, and promote welfare and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities include safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, managing risk and vulnerability, ensuring sentences are served appropriately, and protecting the reputation of the service and Council. The role may involve supervising student placements and requires confident collaborative working with partner agencies to achieve successful outcomes for hard-to-reach children and families.

Candidates must hold a recognised professional qualification in Social Work, Probation Studies, Youth and Community (DipHE), or a relevant youth/criminal justice degree, alongside significant post-qualification experience in assessing and analysing children’s needs, devising intervention packages, and applying youth justice legislation and safeguarding frameworks.
