Job Description

Sefton MBC is seeking an experienced Youth Justice Operational Manager to join its Youth Justice Service based in Bootle, Merseyside (L20 3NJ). This is a temporary role paying £28.48–£37.45 per hour via the Prism portal, starting 1 June 2026.

Reporting to and deputising for the Service Manager, you will lead a multi-agency team delivering prevention, out-of-court, and court-directed work for children, young people, and their families across Sefton. You will drive high-quality case management, implement the Service Development Plan, oversee budget reporting, and contribute to external funding bids.

Key responsibilities include chairing Risk Management and Welfare Meetings, overseeing Court Services, leading on Child Exploitation and Multi-Agency Threat, Risk and Harm partnerships, embedding restorative practice, managing panel volunteers, and representing the Youth Justice Service at operational and partnership boards. You will also develop joint working relationships with Children’s Social Care, Education, Health, Probation, and Police, and contribute to the Strategic Youth Justice Annual Plan and National Standards Audits.

Please note: the post holder is required to provide Management Duty Cover on Saturdays and Public Holidays. The post is politically restricted under the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 and is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
