Job Description

An experienced Senior Practitioner is sought by the London Borough of Bexley to join a dynamic children’s social care service covering MASH, Referral & Assessment, Child Protection, and Family Permanence. Based at the Civic Offices in Bexleyheath (DA6 7AT), this is a hybrid role with 3 days per week in office. The rate is £28.41–£38.69 per hour, with a start date of 1 June 2026.

You will hold a caseload of complex, higher-need cases within a child protection context, providing expert direct work with children and families. Using a Signs of Safety practice model, you will build respectful, supportive relationships with families, helping to keep children safe within their family network where possible, and progressing permanence plans where not. Court-involved work is a strong feature of this role.

Alongside your own caseload, you will mentor, advise, and support less experienced practitioners, offering guidance, peer support, and occasional joint visits or meetings. You will coordinate services across professional networks, using strong communication and influencing skills to achieve the best outcomes for children.

Candidates must hold a recognised social work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have a minimum of three years’ post-qualifying experience — ideally within child protection, MASH, or assessment and referral settings.
