Job Description

Somerset Council is seeking a qualified Childrens Social Worker to join their Family Safeguard service in Taunton. This is a statutory children’s social work role covering Children in Need, Child Protection, PLO and Care Proceedings, working to Social Work England standards.

You will carry out child-centred assessments of need and risk, manage a caseload of varying complexity, and develop evidence-based care plans that reflect the child’s voice. Using strengths-based and trauma-informed practice, you will build trusting relationships with children and families whilst working closely with multi-agency partners including health, education, housing and police. Court report preparation and accurate record keeping are core elements of the role.

Applicants must hold a recognised social work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Strong communication skills, experience of statutory children’s social work, and the ability to manage complex and sensitive situations are essential.
