Job Description

Are you passionate about empowering young people as they transition into adulthood? Bury Council’s Preparing for Adulthood (PFA) Team is seeking an experienced Adults Social Worker to join their Adult Social Care service in Bury, Greater Manchester.

This is a temporary role running from 22 June to 18 August 2026, paying £30 per hour. You will hold a caseload of transition work supporting young people aged 14–25 with care needs, disabilities, and complex transitions, promoting independence, aspiration, and inclusion.

Key responsibilities include delivering excellent transitions planning aligned with the national Preparing for Adulthood framework, building effective partnerships across schools, colleges, and health services, championing young people’s voices, and modelling strengths-based, person-centred, co-productive approaches.

The team works closely with Children’s Services, Education, Health, and SEND partners. You will benefit from regular supervision, hybrid working arrangements, and genuine investment in your professional development.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced social worker with a background in adult social care, transitions work, or disability services, and must be registered with Social Work England. A 3-year reference history and gaps in employment history check will be required.
