Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Family Finding Social Worker with Lancashire County Council, based at County Hall, Preston (PR1 8RE). This is a locum role paying £36.00 per hour, available from 5 May 2026.

Lancashire County Council are seeking an experienced children’s social worker to join their Family Finding service. The role focuses on finding suitable permanent family placements for children in care, requiring a collaborative and creative approach to matching children with prospective carers and adopters.

Ideal candidates will bring some adoption experience, whether gained from a children’s social care background or in an assessing capacity. You will be comfortable working collaboratively across teams and with external partners, and will have experience of mentoring others.

A recognised social work qualification and current Social Work England registration are essential. If you are an experienced children’s social worker with a passion for securing permanence for children, we would love to hear from you.
