*Childrens Social Worker – Emergency Duty Team – #000B08BA1

Job Description

Trafford Council are seeking a Children’s Social Worker to join their Emergency Duty Team (EDT) on a temporary basis, based in Stretford, Manchester (M32 0TH).

This is a shift-based role covering out-of-hours children’s social work. Shifts run Monday to Thursday 4:30pm–Midnight, with an on-call period from Midnight to 8:30am. Weekend working is required on a rota basis (no more than two weekends per month): Saturday 8:30am–4:30pm, 4:30pm–Midnight, then on call through to 8:30am Sunday, with the same pattern repeated Sunday into Monday morning.

The role pays £35 per hour and runs from 15 June 2026 to 30 August 2026. Candidates must be able to provide three years of references, and any gaps in employment history will be checked. Relevant qualifications are required as per the job description and person specification.
