Job Description
Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join their Children with Disabilities service, based at Gardenfold Way, Droylsden, M43 7XU.
This is a community-based role focused on assessing and supporting children and young people with disabilities in Tameside. You will apply in-depth knowledge of relevant children’s legislation and housing legislation, assess eligibility for equipment and adaptations, and provide recommendations in line with social care, health, and housing policies. The role requires a strong understanding of technical plans, housing adaptations, specialist disability equipment, and Moving and Handling techniques.
Key responsibilities include understanding the Local Authority’s legal responsibilities towards children and young people with disabilities living in the community, applying Health and Safety legislation for Moving and Handling, and contributing to the aims of a community-based OT service.
Essential requirements: Diploma or Degree from the Royal College of Occupational Therapy, current HCPC registration, a minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience, and previous experience in community settings and formal Moving and Handling assessments.
This is a temporary assignment running from 15 June 2026 to 12 October 2026, paying between £21.24 and £35.00 per hour via XMS.
