Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Children’s Team Manager to join Bolton’s Children’s Safeguarding Service on a full-time interim basis, commencing 1st June 2026 through to 24th July 2026.

This role sits at the heart of Bolton’s commitment to children and families, leading one of six dedicated safeguarding teams, each comprising six social workers. You will provide strong, supportive management to frontline practitioners working across the full breadth of children’s safeguarding, including child protection plans, children in need, care proceedings, and adoption and permanence planning.

Key responsibilities include:
– Managing and supervising a team of six qualified social workers across a busy safeguarding caseload
– Progressing permanence plans for children, including those subject to child protection plans and care proceedings
– Applying extensive knowledge of child care law and evidence-based practice in children’s social care
– Providing leadership that reflects Bolton’s values: passionate about children and families, and supportive of colleagues

Candidates must be qualified social workers registered with Social Work England and demonstrate substantial experience of managing social workers within a children’s safeguarding setting. A thorough understanding of child care legislation, court work, and permanence is essential. Five years of references will be required, with any gaps in employment history verified.

Please note: candidates must complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions prior to submission; applications that do not pass will not progress.
