Team Manager – Children’s Social Care – #5295459

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Children’s Social Care Team Manager to join a busy team based at Sherburn Hill Family Centre, County Durham (DH6 1PA). This is a locum position offering £37.66 per hour, available from 27 April 2026.

In this pivotal leadership role, you will be responsible for the effective management, supervision, and quality assurance of a children’s social work team. You will play a central part in safeguarding children and ensuring high standards of practice across the service.

Key responsibilities include:
– Quality assurance of Assessments, Care Plans, and Court Reports
– Providing regular case supervision to social workers within the team
– Allocation and management of caseloads
– Chairing Strategy Meetings and PLO (Public Law Outline) meetings
– Conducting and overseeing audits of casework and practice standards
– Any other duties as identified by the Service Manager

The successful candidate will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with substantial post-qualifying experience in children’s social care. You will have a proven track record in team management or senior practitioner roles, strong knowledge of child protection procedures, court work, and PLO processes, and demonstrable skills in quality assurance and practice development.
