April 21, 2026
£35 - £35 / hour

Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Children’s Social Worker to join Trafford’s integrated Family Help and Front Door of Social Care service, based in Stretford, Manchester (M32). This is a community-facing, non-case-holding social work role with a start date of 25 May 2026 through to 31 July 2026, at a rate of £35 per hour.

This service brings together Family Help and the Front Door of Social Care, with a focus on early intervention, community engagement, and strengths-based practice. You will work alongside First Response Advisors and a range of partners to receive and triage referrals, share information, identify risk and strengths, and facilitate timely transfer of work to the right service.

Key responsibilities include: reaching out into communities to support families in building on their own strengths; providing advice and guidance at an advanced level; assessing risk and levels of need; drawing together multi-agency partners; and enabling effective, proportionate intervention. You may be required to work outside of core business hours in line with service demand.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England, with demonstrable experience in children and families social work, a confident understanding of risk and levels of need, and strong partnership-working skills. A minimum of five years’ references will be required, with gaps in employment history checked and relevant qualifications verified.

Please note: all candidates must complete the DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions prior to submission. Applications not meeting this requirement will not be progressed.
