About the role

We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Support Worker to support adults aged 18 and over in supported or residential accommodation in Burnley.

You will help residents feel safe, maintain their tenancies and develop the confidence and practical skills needed to live more independently. Through consistent, person-centred support, you will build positive relationships, understand individual needs and help residents work towards their goals.

The role combines direct mental health support with practical housing responsibilities. It suits someone who can remain calm in challenging situations, maintain clear professional boundaries and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group support tailored to residents’ mental health needs, circumstances and goals.

  • Help residents develop everyday living skills, maintain their accommodation and build greater independence.

  • Offer guidance, reassurance and clear boundaries within a safe, stable and supportive environment.

  • Recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns, promoting residents’ welfare and advocating for their needs.

  • Work with management, local authorities and other professionals to coordinate support and achieve positive outcomes.

  • Support and guide junior colleagues to deliver consistent, high-quality care across day and night shifts.

  • Maintain accurate, timely records and follow the service’s policies, procedures and agreed support plans.

  • Assist management in keeping accommodation safe and well managed, using resources effectively.

  • Promote equality, dignity and respect, challenging discrimination and supporting residents’ individual choices.

About you

You will be patient, reliable and approachable, with a practical understanding of supporting adults with mental health needs. You should be confident using your initiative, recognising when additional support is needed and communicating clearly with residents, colleagues and external professionals.

How to apply

Apply with an up-to-date CV that clearly demonstrates at least one year’s relevant experience supporting adults with mental health needs.

Please confirm that you hold a full UK driving licence, have access to a vehicle for work and can work the required 12-hour shifts.
