Working within the legislative and statutory planning frameworks, Government Guidance and the Department’s policies and procedures, the post holder will be one of a team of Independent Reviewing Officers for Reviews for Children Looked After. The post-holder will monitor professional practice and provide constructive challenge in order to ensure that the interests of children and young people in Nottingham City are safeguarded in accordance with statutory requirements. Candidate must have experience of working as an IRO. Please see Job Description for full details however to summarise: – To chair a range of statutory meetings for Children in Care and Children with Disabilities according to legislative requirements, policy, and procedures. – To work within the Independent Reviewing Officer Handbook 2010 or any subsequent legislation in relation to undertaking the role of Independent Reviewing Officer. – To be responsible for the accurate recording and documentation completion of all meetings in line with statutory requirements, practice standards and departmental procedures. – To manage the achievement of local and national performance indicators and Departmental targets and standards, using information technology and management information as appropriate. – To make decisions and recommendations on behalf of the NCSCB in relation to children’s ongoing safeguarding needs ensuring that plans are child centred, needs based, and outcome focussed. – To offer professional advice and consultation to staff at all levels within the Department and other agencies concerned in relation to the care, safeguarding and well-being of children. – To offer independent scrutiny of children’s Care Plans, addressing areas of performance improvement with managers from all agencies and progressing a problem resolution process when required. – To undertake a range of quality assurance processes, including an annual auditing programme on behalf of Children’s Services, fulfilling an independent evaluation of compliance with service standards and the effectiveness of safeguarding practice.
