Job Description
Kirklees Council is seeking an experienced Housing Officer for a temporary contract based at the Civic Centre, Huddersfield (HD1 2NE), running from 8 June to 28 August 2026 at £17.85 per hour.
This role sits within Kirklees’s housing management service and covers a broad range of tenancy and estate management duties. You will be responsible for income collection, efficient property turnaround, and appropriate lettings, alongside ongoing tenancy and leaseholder management in line with current legislation. Working in partnership with internal colleagues and external professionals, you will deliver effective services and drive positive outcomes for tenants and local communities.
Day-to-day responsibilities include promoting resident engagement and empowerment, developing partnership working, and adopting a problem-solving, flexible approach when dealing with complex or sensitive customer situations — including the use of mediation skills where required. You will work collaboratively with your Housing Manager and fellow Housing Officers to monitor performance indicators, identify improvements, and increase customer satisfaction. Strong written communication skills are essential, as you will be preparing professional correspondence for colleagues, partners, and customers.
If you are an experienced Housing Officer available from early June and looking for a summer contract in the Huddersfield area, please get in touch promptly.
