Job Description

Lambeth Council is seeking an experienced Customer Services Officer to join its specialist Customer Services team based at Brixton Hill, London (SW2), starting 18 May 2026. The rate is £143.87 per day via Prism.

This is a front-facing role at the heart of Lambeth’s customer service operation. You will receive and resolve enquiries across all delivery channels — face to face, telephone, and digital — acting as a point of escalation for complex interactions that cannot be resolved at reception. You will take ownership of enquiries from initial contact through to resolution, coach customers towards self-service and digital channels, and ensure all interactions are logged accurately on Council systems.

Key responsibilities include floor walking within the customer centre, making bookings and appointments, quality-checking correspondence and forms, reconciling financial data, and contributing to service improvement initiatives. Some evening, weekend, and out-of-hours work is required, along with flexibility to work across Council locations throughout the borough.

Essential requirements: proven experience in a customer care or customer service environment, strong verbal and written communication skills, computer literacy including database systems, and a demonstrable commitment to first-contact resolution and citizen-focused service delivery.
