Job Description
Bolton Council is seeking an experienced Childrens Team Manager to provide temporary cover within its Assessment Service Management Team, based at Castleton Street, Tonge Moor, Bolton (BL2 2JW). This is a full-time post of 37 hours per week, running from 6 July to 28 August 2026, paying £43–£45 per hour.
The Assessment Service sits within Bolton’s Front Door and receives referrals from the Integrated Front Door. The team manages cases involving children at risk of significant harm, handling Section 47 enquiries, social care assessments, Initial Child Protection Conferences, Care Proceedings, and the Public Law Outline.
As Team Manager, you will be responsible for the management, supervision, support, and guidance of a team of qualified social workers. You will ensure the highest standards of safeguarding practice through supervision, quality assurance, performance management, and audit activity. Working alongside the wider management team and the Senior Head of Service, you will contribute to driving forward service improvement for Bolton’s most vulnerable children.
Candidates must have a recognised social work qualification, be registered with Social Work England, and have at least five years’ post-qualifying experience. Employment history gaps will be checked. DfE Recommendation Compliance Questions must be completed and uploaded to the candidate record prior to submission.
