Blackburn with Darwen Children’s Services — rated ‘Good’ at full ILACS Ofsted inspection — require a full-time agency Social Worker to cover their Children in Our Care (CIOC) Court Service, based at 10 Duke Street, Blackburn (BB2 1DH). The role runs from 20 July to 30 September 2026 at £39 per hour.
You will carry out all duties in relation to children looked after who are subject to care proceedings, and may also be required to work with children who remain looked after following the conclusion of proceedings, including those whose long-term permanence plan is not yet finalised.
Candidates must hold current Social Work England registration and possess a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience, ideally in longer-term safeguarding, care proceedings, and court work. A valid driving licence and access to a car are essential. Experience of the Protocol LCS case management system is advantageous.
The role operates on a hybrid basis, with a requirement to be office-based three to four days per week. Strong communication skills, the ability to manage a caseload independently, and the capacity to meet local authority and court timescales are essential.
