Blackburn with Darwen Childrens Services are looking for an experienced agency social worker to cover in our Children in Our Care (CIOC) Service. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people living with parents, relatives, foster carers, or in residential and semi‑independent settings. Your work will help secure permanence and deliver the best possible outcomes for our children and families and to support Children in Our Care by undertaking high‑quality assessments, planning for permanence, promoting positive outcomes, and ensuring that the child’s voice is central to all decision‑making. You will work collaboratively with families, carers and partner agencies to safeguard children and promote their wellbeing.

Deliver high‑quality, evidence‑informed social work with children, young people, and families.

Act as a strong and aspirational corporate parent, advocating for the best possible outcomes for children in our care.

Develop outcome‑focused Care Plans and Pathway Plans that promote safety, stability and permanence.

Work collaboratively with partner agencies including Health, Education, CAMHS, foster carers, the regional adoption agency and Independent Reviewing Officers.

Ensure children and young people are safeguarded and protected from harm through timely intervention.

Contribute to permanency planning, ensuring long‑term placements meet children’s holistic needs.

Engage in reflective supervision and commit to ongoing professional development.
