Childrens Social Worker – Children with Disabilities Team – #OR107087

July 1, 2026
£24 - £33 / hour

Job Description

Herefordshire Council is seeking a qualified Social Worker to join its Children with Disabilities Team in Hereford on an agency contract (37 hours per week, £30.57 per hour umbrella).

The Children with Disabilities service operates as a single specialist team, comprising a Team Manager, two Managing Practitioners, one Senior Practitioner, Social Workers, and Family Support Workers. The team is grounded in a restorative approach to practice, with collaboration and reflection at its heart. Senior managers are readily accessible for guidance, particularly on complex cases.

In this role you will work directly with children and young people who have a range of additional needs and their families, completing holistic assessments, planning and coordinating services, and working alongside partner agencies across health, education, and social care. You will place the child’s voice and lived experience at the centre of your practice, helping children and young people to thrive, build independence, and participate fully in their communities.

The successful candidate will be registered with Social Work England and hold a recognised social work qualification (Degree, DipSW, or CQSW) with a minimum of three years’ post-qualifying experience. You will be skilled in multi-agency assessment and planning, resilient in managing complex situations, and committed to inclusive, person-centred practice.

This is a genuine opportunity to contribute to Herefordshire’s ongoing improvement journey and make a lasting difference to the lives of disabled children and young people across the county. Contact us today to find out more.
