Job Description
Birmingham Children’s Trust is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Social Worker to take on a Lead Practitioner role within the Family Help service, based in the Hodge Hill District in the east of the city. This is a well-established team offering a stable and supportive base from which to make a genuine difference to vulnerable children and families.
In this role you will act as the lead professional for children and families in need of help and support, taking a whole-family approach to practice. You will undertake needs-led assessments, create and lead multi-agency support plans, and establish Team Around the Family (TAF) arrangements. Experience with children subject to Child in Need plans is essential. You will also contribute to Child Protection Conferences, Strategy Meetings, MARAC, and court proceedings where required, and engage the multi-agency child protection team where significant harm is a concern.
The successful candidate will bring confident, trauma-informed, relationship-based practice, strong assessment and recording skills, and a commitment to hearing the voices of children and young people. You will support the Practice Supervisor and Team Manager, promote continuous improvement, and take ownership of your own professional development through supervision and reflective practice.
Qualified Social Worker status and registration with Social Work England are required. The role is offered on a locum basis at £22.50–£30.57 per hour via Prism, with a start date of 17 August 2026. To be considered, please get in touch today.
