Job Description

Are you an experienced, qualified social worker with a strong background in fostering and kinship care? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Social Worker or Advanced Practitioner to join the Fostering team based in Colindale, London.

This role sits within a specialist fostering service and will see you making a meaningful difference to children and young people who are unable to remain in the care of their birth families. You will play a central part in assessing and supporting kinship carers, ensuring that children are placed in safe, nurturing environments with connected individuals who can provide stability and permanence.

Key responsibilities include:
– Completing a full range of Kinship Assessments, including Viability Assessments, Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments, and Connected Carer assessments.
– Direct work with children and families throughout the assessment process.
– Maintaining high-quality, evidence-based recording and report writing.
– Contributing to court proceedings and presenting assessments to panels where required.

You will join a committed team with a clear focus on supporting children to remain within their family networks wherever possible. Strong supervision and management support are offered alongside opportunities for continued professional development.

Candidates must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. Demonstrable experience of kinship or fostering assessments is essential.

This is a locum position based at 2 Bristol Avenue, Colindale, London NW9 4EW, paying between £27.32 and £37.54 per hour. Start date: 25 May 2026. Apply now to find out more.
